Juan's 20 years of experience have taken him all over the world. For the last three years, Juan has been touring with the USAREUR Standard jazz quartet. The USAREUR Standard has performed in Algiers, Belgium, France, and all over Germany.
Prior to joining the USAREUR Band and Chorus, Juan has had enjoyed an extensive performing career in Puerto Rico and New York. A rigorous education combined with a passion for both jazz and Latin music make him the perfect fit for any ensemble.

Music is the heartbeat of any society. It's the responsibility of each generation of musicians to ensure our children and grandchildren have an understanding of our shared cultural heritage. Juan takes great pleasure in passing the torch to the next generation.
Juan has worked as an instructor for over a decade, and brings his love and passion for music with him into every lesson. Juan was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He started his musical journey at the age of 13 in a little Baptist church in the north of the Island. Juan completed a music degree in performance from the Interamerican University, where he studied with Edgardo Sierra and Ricard Lugo. While in university Juan performed with the Interamerican University's Big Band, the Carli Muñoz Trio, and the Angel David Mattos Jazz group.
In 2006 Juan moved to New York City where he continued his education with Mike Richmond, Ronald D. McClure, George Garzone, and Dave Pietro. During his living in the Big Apple Juan performed with numerous of artists like pianist Desmar Guevara, percussionist Anthony Carrillo, trumpets Bruce Purse, singer Danny Rivera, pianist Chiemi Nakai, Pregones Theater, and Multicultural Music Group Esemble.
Juan is currently serving in the United States Army Band. Juan's career has taken him to 11 countries, including Algeria, Afghanistan, Latvia, Poland, Lithuania, and Estonia performing classical, pop, latin and swing music in various ensembles.
